Perth Hair Salon Eclectic Styles at Melbourne Hair Expo 2016

If you are a client of ours or you follow our blog regularly you would know already that we were super excited to attend this years Australian hair expo! Now we are going to fill you in on our amazing trip!

Hair Expo 2016

Earlier this month we left the salon for a few days to be part of this years Australian hair expo. What is Hair expo? Hair expo is the leading trade event of the year were we get to immerse our selves in an environment full of industry professionals like us who simply love what we do and and look for ways to take our work to the next level and gain as much inspiration as possible. There is lots of stalls with exciting shiny new hair stuff for sale! There is multiple stages with live stage work from start to finish so we can watch some of the latest styles of hair cuts and colours being performed on stage. There is exciting catwalk shows displaying not only the latest hair styles but also some really cool avant-guard work to!

So if this sounds like fun, please read on for our little slice of what we got up to.

Guy Tang Hair Artist

You may already be familiar with the incredible colour work that Guy Tang Celebrity hairdresser and hair artist is so famous for, if not well get on instagram and search Guy Tang @guy_tang. Guy is a colourist famous for his beautiful balayages as well as his amazing pastel and vivids colour work. Day 1 we got to meet Guy Tang at Hair Expo and yes he was friendly enough to stop for a photo op! and he is just as fun and quirky with his personality as he is in his videos!

Day 2 at Hair Expo we were booked in to Guy Tangs Olaplex World Tour Look and Learn session. In this session Guy Tang teamed up with Hair Artist Rebecca Taylor @rebeccataylorhair

During this session the team took us through all their pre done models as well as doing some live on stage colour work.

On stage the pair discussed the benefits of olaplex while colouring and talked about how they use it on their own clients. Guy Tang demonstrated some beautiful pastel hair colouring on stage and Rebecca taylor worked with some vivids as well as working on a model with the longest hair I have ever seen, thats right EVER! She is a living rapunzel and Rebecca did some amazing vivid work on her.

They also went over several techniques for balayage, colour melts and the trending denim hair. All of these trends we currently do in our salon but it was amazing to have some insight as to how these hair artists create these trending colours and to hear their opinions and experiences with the techniques. The session was extremely inspiring. I have posted a few photos below showing the finished result of just a few of their models please keep in mind these photos are from Guy Tang and Rebecca Taylors Instagrams so please head over and check out their instagram accounts.

Everything else at hair expo

We got to catch lots of live stage work that included cutting, styling, colouring and alot of sessionstyling! You know those really big hair styles!

We got to see Tracy Hughes a very famous hair educator (as pictured above) and her team work some styling on a few beautiful models on stage!

Tracys work was amazing to watch!

We caught the Kaaral Teams presentation on stage with international hair artists talking about the current trends for hair colour (pictured above) and we also checked out their stand were the local K-team was including our old colleague Andrea-Rose of Andrea-Rose Hair Design who some of you would of met at the salon, it was great to see Andrea and the team working with the latest colour splash looks.

Walking around we saw some very cool pastel colour work from pravana and some very creative interpretive colour work from Goldwell. Lots of barbering and live cutting also.

We also got to check out all the work from the finalists that were in the running for the most prestigious titles like Australian Hairdresser of the year and Colourist of the year and a massive congratulations to the hairdressers who took out the 2016 titles. The work we saw was all of a very high caliber of work and very well deserved! Hopefully we can participate in one of the future years of expo to come!

And last but not least whats an expo without some shopping! As you can see we have bought lots of bits a pieces back with us to the salon and have summed our trip up as best as we can which is very hard to do when there is so many exciting things in a small space of time. So if you want to know more be sure to book in an appointment with us and we will be sure to fill you in :)
